Story Psalms.

I love brevity. Why speak for 40 minutes if you can get the job done in ten? What's with 1,500 articles when a 150-word short story will have more impact? Inspired by Grant Faulkner's book "The Art of Brevity", JFK's obsession with brevity, and a love for Hemingway's short stories, I thought it would be fun to condense some of my favourite stories and anecdotes into 150 word stories. Each "psalm" only take one minute to read.

 

I call them "Story Psalms" becasue I write them in verse format - they're not quite poems - but they're not sructured like traditional stories either. I like that this shape gives them a rhythm. And given that they're written as Psalms, I've provided the kind of stage directions in red ink that I would give someone who wants to bring those words to life in front of an audience.
